OPKL is also the biggest IPP of Orion and the first coal based advanced super-critical power plant to be implemented in Burirdanga, Mongla with a net capacity of 630 MW (Gross 680MW). Taking the advisory and engineering consultancies from world’s most renowned consulting firms and with financing participation by Harmes and Sinosure, All preparations had been taken for the implementation of the project. However, The Project had been waiting for EIA (Environmental Impact Assessment) Approval for about two and half years to three years now. To implement the project OPKL had planned to use the best technology and equipment from Alstom of Europe. The plant had been designed on Clean Coal Technology to ensure reliable, available, and efficient operations with compliance of all environmental regulations.

The plant shall have a built-in ETP system, all rejected waste water will be accumulated in the oily water sludge tank then through separator pure water will drain in the rain pit and sludge will be accumulated in the sludge tank. This sludge will then take away by the vendors who have the license of the use of the sludge.
